Badger Class have had a brilliant Sports Week. Thank you Mrs Eadie for organising all the amazing activities!
Today we started our Sports Week by playing some team games. We used the skills we have learned during our PE sessions to compete against each other. We had lots of fun cheering on our team members.
Today we had a session with our Mini Kixx coach . Coach Hayden taught us some javelin skills. He showed us how to hold the javelin and rock back and forth to gain momentum before throwing the javelin as far as we could. We had a great time and Coach Hayden was very impressed with our throws!
Today we had a visit from the swimmer Oliver Hynd MBE who has represented Team GB at the Paralympics. He shared with us his his journey on how he became a champion swimmer. He also talked to us about the importance of setting ourselves goals and never giving up . He showed us the medals he had won in the London 2012 and the Rio 2016 Paralympics. We watched the 400m freestyle final in Rio 2016 where Oliver won the gold medal and beat the world record. We then had a fantastic PE session led by Oliver. What a wonderful day we all had!
On Wednesday afternoon we did some yoga. We really enjoyed copying the different poses. Mrs Burton said that we were really good at it.
Today we found out about different types of Sport. We learnt that there are lots and lots of different sports that you can take part in. We watched some video clips of people competing in different sports. The gymnastic clips were our favourites. We were amazed at what the gymnasts could do with their bodies!
Today we took part in a martial arts lesson led by Tiffany Richardson. We absolutely loved this session and learnt lots of new moves. Tiffany said that we were really good at concentrating and holding our positions. Our favourite part was trying to split the kick board with a high kick. Max was very proud when he did it on his first attempt!
