We started the week by reading lots of stories linked to our topic of pirates. We talked about what makes a good story and with our talking partners practised retelling our favourite stories.
Next we used a resource called 'Tales Toolkit' to create our own pirate stories. We had to use our imaginations to think of characters, the setting, a problem and a solution. Mrs Burton was really impressed with our ideas! We recorded our ideas on a story plan and then used the plans to retell the story. We remembered to use lots of story language and changed our voices for the different characters.
Later in the week we made pirate puppets. We used brown paper envelopes and decorated them to make imaginary pirates. They are all unique, just like us!
We had a brilliant time creating a pirate puppet show. Some of the pirates were good but a few were very naughty and kept trying to steal things. We certainly had a good giggle!
