Today we are continuing our learning on how to use greater than and less than symbols. As our next challenge, we will be using them to compare a whole number, with a number sentence.
To solve these problems your first have to solve the number sentence - you could use a number line or 100 square to do this. Once you have solved the number sentence, you can compare that answer to the whole number and decide which symbol you need.
E.g.
24 17 + 4
First solve 17 + 4 to find the answer 21
Then you are comparing 24 and 21 so the answer is:
24 > 21
